Q What’s with
THE NEURONS? What kind of music do they do? I mean is it alternative? Rock?
Rap? Hip Hop?
A “The Neurons like to think of good
music being good, and bad music as being bad. It’s all just physics.
Sound waves through air. To put a label on it, how about WORLD JAZZ HOP?”
Q Hmmmmmmm. Is it true one of the neurons
played with Ray Charles for many years? And are THE NEURONS like Ray Charles?
A “YES it’s true. And NO, they
sound more like THE NEURONS.”
Q
Well, this sounds interesting. Can you offer more about how the
music sounds?
A “WELL, THE NEURONS mix world influences
(One Neuron studied Ethnomusicology at University), with movement oriented
GROOVES. So being “in the groove” is important here. But, they
wanted to add a bit more to the pallet, otherwise they become bored and go
to sleep. So, sounds modulate to different colors. AND on occasion, you might
even find a poetic recitation, a beautiful Malay lady whispering in sultry
tones, or a Taoist poet scattering verse to the wind.”
They love so many musicians from every musical world. Jazz, World, Fusion, Rock, Folk, Classical... They love folks like Peter Gabriel, Miles Davis, Pat Metheny, Bela Fleck, Zappa, Ravi Shankar, Happy The Man, Dave Matthews, Garaj Mahal and more!!
Q Is
it True that one Neuron has not shaved since 1970?
A “Ha ! No
, the correct date is 1973"
Q
Do NEURONS need recharging, and are Quarks bigger than NEURONS?
A “Yes. And no, NEURONS are bigger than
Quarks ( But THE NEURONS have Quarks.)”
Q Is it true that one
NEURON makes some of the the instruments he plays?
A “Yes, and he’s even built
instruments for Daryl Hall, Members of Stevie Wonders band. Wood he loves,
but he has come to enjoy silicon as well.”
Q What kind of instruments
do they play? I mean, there are some exotic sounds on the album.
A “ THE NEURONS are glad you asked that.
They love instruments! Guitars, Didjeridu, Trumpet and brass instruments,
Keyboards, Native Flutes, Gamelon Gongs, Electric Sitars, Banjo’s, Congas,
Djembe’s and Talking Drums, Digital loops, Dog barks, Mandolin, Dulcimers,
Voice, Poems, Rainsticks, Tars, Koto’s, and other instruments we’ve
forgotten about.”
Q Where does the name
of the band come from?
A “Uhh... France.”
Q. Is it true that
NEURONS are made of carbon matter?
A. “No man can live by bread alone.”
Q If
we have any more questions may we ask?
A “Oh,
please do. THE NEURONS love to talk about themselves (Although they freely
admit this doesn’t spiritually coincide with the lessening of the ego.).
They also love to talk about arty things as well as write stories and poetry.
Sometimes THE NEURONS even do lectures on these topics at schools and Universities.”
A local Illinois University recently invited one NEURON to run their jazz program. He's going to accept. It's good that the building is made from brick.
"Always attempt to be less crazy. It may catch."
