IN CONSIDERATION OF THE SPHERE
I remember as a child
finding that perfect moment. Time stopped. Staring into the clover I
realized that EVERYTHING was right there. We spend our lives running
like addicted automatons searching high and low for our Nirvana. Whether
it’s with that new love, the brighter bright, or the whitest smile,
just look down - It’s all right there.
Athletes call these fleeting
moments the “zone” . Others call it finding yourself, or
becoming one with the moment. You may have found yourself in this place
and, even if for a nano second, EVERYTHING JUST WAS, AND ALL WAS WELL
WITHIN CONFINES OF FLESH AND BONE.
Consider the sphere. An absolutely
perfect magical tool. A round cylindrical ball to toss, juggle, bounce,
throw, hit, kick, balance, and embrace. What magic is this round thing
that performs such a wide array of pleasurable tasks? The square,or
triangle, have their place BUT they don’t offer us the magic of
the sphere. Who could get an infield home run with a square?
Consider the laughter and magic,
as well as the intensity that accompanies a workout with the sphere.
A ball to throw, bounce, toss, hit, and kick. A ball to hold, to share,
and laugh with. A ball to bring people together.
It’s roundness offers
hope to lonely souls, and bounces back to those with abandonment issues.
It’s patience of roll offers us transportation to distant places,
and an ability to haul heavy objects. It not only works for us, but
entertains us; it embraces us and elicits laughter, and it brings us
closer together. Want to communicate with a friend ? Toss a ball. Want
to vent anger? Kick the ball. Want to rest? Roll your coat into a ball
and lay your weary head
Just as Music and Mathematics
are two universal languages, the sphere is a universal object. Everyone,
regardless of background or culture, understands the intrinsic value
of the ball. Teams from distant lands and vastly different languages
work together as an organization, as a unit, at ONE, with the ball as
its mantra. Om mane pudme hum’
You may be carrying the weight
of the world on your shoulders.
Get a ball.
It’s an instrument of
meditation. Change your focus to the roundness of the sphere as you
throw it. What is it pulling out of you? What magic is it bringing you?
How did it help you to release your pain, and to become ONE with it,
letting go of all outside interruptions?
We need more balls ................
and fewer guns.

ball"
