A FEW WORDS ABOUT MUSIC OUTSIDE OF OUR ALBUMS
We love creating music for various media. Dave and I have done music spots for Chrysler, Motorolla, Subaru, Caterpillar, John Deer, The Seimans Corporation, and many other national and international businesses. Even more fun is composing for video and independent film projects. The latter can be pure pleasure. I'm particularly fond of independent films, and am very pleased to hear orchestral music meld along side of pure Americana and singer/songwriter work. I encourage all of you, especially students, to be inspired by finding film and music that is outside the mainstream. In todays world of sophisticated marketing and narrow visual scopes, its easy to let the small "gems" pass by. I find it an interesting irony that we have never had more sophisticated tools for composing music than are available to us today, yet popular music doesn't always explore the outer territories of audio expression. It's like hunting rabbits with an AK 47 Assault rifle.
